Support from the Ashland Chamber:
We fully support the renewal of the Youth Activities and Academics Levy. This important funding for our local schools enables the Ashland School District to provide a well-rounded, quality education for our local students. And great schools improve real estate values and help us attract the best employers and employees, contributing directly to our economy. It is a smart investment for our community to make Ashland a great place to live and do business. Our schools are a key part of that investment.

Support from Local Elected Leaders:
Please join us and Say Yes! to renewing the Ashland Youth Activities and Academics Levy (YAAL). The Ashland community has been a leader in supporting education in Oregon for decades. This leadership demonstrates that community support for public education is essential to providing strong schools and enabling students to achieve excellent outcomes. Our continued support of the YAAL enables our teachers, administrators, and staff to provide an educationally rich environment and foster success for our children.
In addition to supporting our students academically by reducing class sizes and providing diverse course offerings, the YAAL assists with diverse activity programs including music, art, drama, and athletics. These activities nurture our children and contribute to their success in our community.
As our community moves forward in these truly unique times, we believe it is important to continue to reach out to our children and provide them with opportunities to grow and mature into successful adults. The YAAL reflects Ashland’s commitment to excellence in education and our commitment to our future. Please join us and Say Yes!

Support from Ashland School District Leaders:
Ashland’s public schools provide an outstanding education to our kids, and the YAAL is a cornerstone of this excellence. Since 1994, the Ashland community has shown its support for our schools by passing and renewing the Youth Activities and Academics Levy (YAAL), which provides over 10% of the district’s general fund. As current and former School Board and budget committee members, we have seen firsthand how the YAAL provides opportunities for all students to excel in academics, the arts, athletics, and other activities.
By traditional testing measures, the Ashland School District is among the top ten in Oregon. Graduation rates are above Oregon’s average, and our students distinguish themselves in all disciplines. The YAAL provides funding to bolster our academic offerings and provide key extracurricular opportunities, contributing directly to our students’ success.
The YAAL has kept music, art, drama, debate, world languages, and dozens of athletic opportunities available to our children. We know that students who are involved in the arts and extracurricular activities feel more connected to their schools and to our community. In a typical school year, nearly 75% of students at Ashland Middle School participate in sports or other extracurriculars. And Ashland is one of the last Oregon school districts that does not require families to “pay to play” for OSAA sports. This allows all students to participate, regardless of their family income.
Renewing the YAAL helps protect these opportunities for all students.
